At Home with Coastal Decor

Posted by Benjamin Aziz on

It's summertime and whether you live by the coast or miles away, we can all appreciate the relaxing charm that coastal decor brings to a home.  Cool whites and ivory and varying shades of blue all come together to give that breezy, seaside ease.

When it comes to decorating "Coastal" style, it's good to pick a few key pieces in neutral shades.  This allows the flexibility of changing up the room with accessories if you choose.  Linen upholstery in whites and neutrals will keep things light and breezy.

Here are a few upholstered pieces that work well:  Vanguard Furniture's Fisher Sofa is shown with a relaxed waterfall skirt. A pair of Vanguard's Redondo Ivory Fairmont Chairs and the Lexington Monterey Sands Archer Chair together would bring that coastal Hamptons feel.

For your wood pieces rustic, light washed tables work well.  This Uttermost Stratford Rustic Cocktail Table offers ample space on the top with a lower shelf for books and other collectables.

Next comes the addition of lighting.  This is where you can have some fun and even introduce a piece a bit more contemporary and vibrant. This exquisite Diallo Chandelier by Arteriors will be the focal point of the room.  The coral like pieces are crafted with lacquered resin and a center gold sphere that hangs like a jewel.

Brings some soft shades of blues into the mix with table lamps like this Uttermost Hermosa Table Lamp with its crackled sky blue glaze.  Another great find is this John Richard Ocean Lamp.

Jaipur Naturals Tobago Mallow Area Rug made of 100% jute ties the coastal theme together with its natural quality.

Coastal accessories can include sea life, shells, coral and sand.  Nautical or coastal prints on pillows, artwork and throws will add expressive coastal touches. John Richard Eco Friendly Brain Coral Bowl and Raxor Coral make wonderful tabletop additions along with artwork pieces like this Bassett Mirror Throughly Modern Regatta.

So whether you live by the coast or miles away you can bring the coast home and enjoy the casual atmosphere that completes this popular style.
